Workshop Descriptions
The Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies and The Writing and Learning Centre are working together to offer a series of free workshops for graduate students. These workshops focus on helping students to successfully communicate their research and improve their academic performance.

Building a Strong SSHRC or NSERC Application
Next session: Oct. 6, 2026 | 2 - 3 p.m. MDT | Online
This workshop helps you plan and manage the work of completing a strong grant application. You will think through timelines, feedback, revision, and how to communicate the value of your research clearly. We will add a short planning tool to help students decide what to revise first when time is limited.
Strengthening a SSHRC/NSERC Proposal
Next session: Oct. 29, 2026 | 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. MDT | Online
This workshop is for students with a draft, outline, or previous submission. You will learn strategies for improving clarity, guiding reviewers, strengthening claims, and making better use of limited proposal space. We will use an AI-aware revision checklist to spot places where the writing sounds polished but not specific enough.
