Sexual Assault Centre (drop-in services)

The U of A Sexual Assault Centre provides trauma-informed, survivor-centred drop-in and appointment-based support for individuals impacted by sexual assault, sexual harassment, relationship violence, or stalking. Services are grounded in feminist, anti-oppressive, intersectional, and person-centred approaches. Support is available to people of all genders, sexualities, and backgrounds, with a strong emphasis on choice, confidentiality, and respect for each individual’s recovery process.

Service Offerings

  • Same-day confidential support (drop-in, appointment, or virtual)
  • Review of options, safety planning, coping strategies, and self-care
  • Psychological support and counselling
  • Follow-up support and referrals
  • Accompaniment for medical care, campus processes, or law enforcement (if desired)
  • Advocacy for personal well-being, safety, and academic success
  • Guidance on responding to disclosures of sexual violence

To meet with a trained staff member to explore support options at your own pace:

What to Expect

Timely, confidential, and trauma-informed support is provided during regular business hours, with same-day service offered when possible. Engagement is survivor-directed, respectful, and supported by clear communication and appropriate follow-up or referrals.
