UA-WiSE & WiSER mentorship program

The UA-WiSE (U of A Women in Science & Engineering) and WiSER (Women in Science, Engineering, & Research) Mentorship Program is a multi-level mentorship initiative that brings together experienced professionals, early-career professionals or graduate students, and undergraduate students in STEM. Running from October to March, the program combines mandatory professional development events with independent mentorship meetings. Participants engage in guided discussions focused on career development, professional skills, and personal growth. The program supports networking across academia, industry, and government while fostering mentorship experience in a supportive, inclusive environment. Both in-person and virtual engagement options are offered.

Hours of Operation
Events are scheduled during the program term (October to March). Mandatory program events are held in the evenings from 6 - 8 p.m. Independent mentorship meetings are scheduled flexibly by each mentorship trio outside of formal event times.

What to Expect

The UA-WiSE and WiSER Mentorship Program is offered annually and delivered through scheduled virtual and in-person activities. Program organizers provide structured mentor-mentee matching, coordinated events, and ongoing administrative support throughout the program term.
Participants can expect reliable delivery of planned events and clear communication. In return, participants are responsible for attending mandatory events, actively engaging in mentorship meetings, completing required hours, and communicating proactively with their mentorship trio and program organizers.

Cost

Mentees: $25 non-refundable deposit. Deposit may be waived upon request for participants with financial challenges
Mentors: No cost

Special Conditions

  • Deposit is non-refundable unless waived in advance
  • Missed mandatory events must be made up through additional trio meetings
  • Mentorship hours may count toward professional development credits (participants must confirm with their accrediting bodies)
