Dear Maddi: Ask a Therapist
Have a question about your mental health? Submit it anonymously and it may get a response from a mental health clinician at Counselling & Clinical Services.
The Dear Maddi advice column started in 2019, when psychologist Maddi Genovese began answering U of A students' mental health questions. Her first column, "Dear Maddi, I am having trouble making friends" took off. Maddi brought in colleagues from Counselling & Clinical Services (CCS) to keep up with the demand, and the column has since drawn tens of thousands of readers.
When Maddi left the university in 2024, the column kept her name in tribute to her work. Clinicians at CCS have continued answering student questions each month through the fall and winter terms.
Today, Dear Maddi covers everything from What should I do if it takes longer than expected to finish my degree? to How do I take time for myself without feeling guilty? Scroll down for the complete list, in order of publication.
