CSC 2027 - Application Deadlines, Process Timelines & Program Dates

University of Alberta professors submit research projects through the Project Proposal Form [link is no longer active once deadline to collect projects has passed] |

Internship offers sent to selected applicants (Offers expire if no confirmation is received within 1 week) |
| From January 2027 onwards | U of A ISVS will prepare required immigration document(s) and provide them to selected candidates. CSC to provide award letters confirming sponsorship. |
| From February 2027 onwards | Selected students should then apply to IRCC for a visitor visa to enter Canada as a temporary resident for work purposes (research) via Global Skills Strategy (GSS) 120-day Work Permit Exemption for Researchers |

Internship must start sometime between May 1 (at the absolute earliest due to time required for immigration procedures) and by no later than December 15. |
July 1 is the default 3-month internship start date for CSC-funded internships. Alternate start dates may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis with approval from the host professor, as long as duration remains 3 months and it starts no earlier than May 1 and no later than December 15. |
